I went to visit the home of the King of Rwanda. The
king lived in the largest of several huts located on
a compound. The compound contained huts for the king,
his wives, his mother, the servants and the children.
You may notice the hut has 2 colors, red and white.
The white is the area the king is allowed to pass,
while all others pass over the red area. The king
passes over the white area because the king is pure
and holy, perfect in the minds of the people. This
page contains pictures of the King's hut, the milk
hut and the beer hut.
Currently the king of Rwanda is in the United States. When the Dutch came to Rwanda the first king did not want division between his people. He would not go along with the classification of Tutisi and Whutu, he called all of his people Rwandans so the Dutch got rid of him. The Dutch built a modern home for the next king as a way to appease him. But when he realized what the Dutch were doing he started to oppose them. Then he mysteriously died on a way to a meeting in Burundi. The uncle of the king, was next in line to be the king. He decided to run for his life because he opposed the Dutch. He has never returned to Rwanda although many invitations have been extended to him to return. He desires to rule like kings did in the past, but Rwanda has progressed. It is no longer a monarchy but a republic.
